If you’ve ever thought, “Okay… but how are people actually using AI day-to-day?” this meetup is for you.
On Wednesday 10 December 2025, BRAIN is teaming up with Ballarat Hackerspace for an evening focused on practical AI workflows, useful tooling, and honest show-and-tell from people building and experimenting in the real world. We’ll skip the “what is AI?” intro content and jump straight into what’s working (and what isn’t) across coding, engineering, creative projects, and business problem-solving.
Event details
When: Wed, 10 Dec 2025, 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Where: Ballarat Hackerspace, 136A Albert St, Ballarat Central VIC 3350
Tickets: Standard $20, Concession/Student $10, Free for Ballarat Hackerspace and BRAIN members (plus a “bring a friend free” option with a paid or concession ticket)
What we’re doing (and what we’re not)
This session is built for people who are ready to move beyond surface-level prompting and into real application.
Real workflows people use in their job or projects
Tools that save time, reduce friction, or unlock new capabilities
Practical lessons learned, including the messy bits
You don’t need to be an AI expert. You do need curiosity, especially if you’re interested in doing more than just asking ChatGPT questions.
Format: one feature talk plus lightning talks
Feature talk (15 to 30 minutes)
A selected presenter will share an emerging AI technology or a unique industry use-case, with a clear “here’s what we built and here’s how it works” focus.
Lightning talks (5 minutes each)
Anyone can jump up and share an AI workflow they use day-to-day, a toolchain they’re excited about, or a project demo, even an early one.
What’s next for BRAIN
We’ll also share a quick update on BRAIN and where future meetups are heading.
Topics we’ll likely cover
Expect a practical spread across text, image, and audio generation; tooling and software stacks; system and solution architecture breakdowns; and live demos.
There’s also a strong hands-on angle for builders, including a look at running and integrating local LLMs in real environments. If that’s your lane, bring your laptop.
Who should come?
If you’re already tinkering or you’re ready to start, you’ll fit right in. Developers and engineers, designers, creators, and makers, operators, analysts, and business folks, and curious technologists of any stripe.
Want to present at a future meetup?
We’re planning more sessions with Ballarat Hackerspace, and we’d love to feature local workflows and experiments. If you’ve got a setup worth sharing, even a rough prototype, come along and tell us you’re keen.
Tickets are required. We’ll see you there.
